This album is beautiful. It is only a matter of time before someone asks them to score a film. That's all I can say after listening to the first 4 songs.

Welcome back old friend. Sea Change is a magnificent album, even if it doesn't bring back the craziness we experienced during the Odelay era. The album has a country base with layers of pop, electronic, folk, and that indescribable indie aesthetic. Yeah, so it sounds like what we'd expect from Beck, but this album is much more ethereal. The first track, The Golden Age, is a wonderful first track and really prepares you for the sonic backrub you are about to experience. This is a great follow-up for those still clinging to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
I really like these songs: Golden Age, Lonesome Tears, Sunday Sun, Little One.
You probably won't like it, but I love it. This album is glossy, poppy, croony and amazing. Lots of great melodies. So maybe you should check it out. At least for free on the web.
I waited a long time to get this, but it was worth the wait. Usually if there isn't something to tell me to run out and buy an album, especially if it's hyped, I assume my gut is right and avoid it. I was wrong this time. Way to go Iceland.
This is not your father's French Kicks. As the preceding tagling attempts to suggest, the new album is not nearly as rocking Young Lawyer. Instead of an onslaught of sound, we have a more organized effort focusing on the entire song. Less angst, more thought, less rock, more jangle, and the essence remains.
Personally, I'm a fan of the new French Kicks. I think the album works well together and some songs like "Down Now," "One Time Bells," and "Trying Whining" are especially good. If you liked the old French Kicks, then at least try a few of the songs out. Come on, please?
Emos beware, this album will only make you cry because it is so good. If you want to emote, then turn to Belle and Sebastian. As has been rumored, and I've mentioned in the blog, this album has a big Wilco sound, which is definitely a good thing. The album is head and shoulders above the rest of the stuff they've done.
What's interesting is that they decided to follow their gut and make this album instead of following the success of Very Emergency. Becoming the next Get Up Kids or Jimmy Eat World would have been a snap. I respect the direction they took mostly because I've been growing that way and following your gut is usually the right thing to do.
I am no connoisseur of this genre, but I do love this CD. It reminds me of when I first found out about The Delta 72. The album is versatile--you can study, dance, screw or drive to it. Buy it or else.
Wow, Neal Pollack is a very funny man. Although the disc is well worth the $12, it doesn't even compare to seeing him live.
