You've Licked My Navs!
008: Starship Troopers
The title of this post is a good example of what you missed out on last week if you didn't show up for Starship Troopers. The three of us there all watched one scene about five times after hearing a line of dialogue that sounded unexpectedly dirty. Carmen (Denise Richards) tells Zander (Patrick Muldoon) that she replotted a more efficient course for the ship and he seems to tell her something about his testicles. In reality he said something like, "Only two weeks on the ship and you've already licked my navs!" We assume that means navigation, but you can never be positive.
After doing a little digging on the internet, I found a shooting script for the film. It gives that line of dialogue as such:
CARMEN
No, I replotted the course. It's more efficient this way.
ZANDER
Three weeks aboard a starship and you know it all, huh ?
It appears that the line was actually a last minute improvisation on the set. I really wonder why they would change that. It's pretty obvious "navs" sounds like "nads." I'm also curious if the version that was in theatres, which is slightly different from the video version, had this change. We'll never know, but I'm not complaining since this version is much more hilarious.

Random Facts and Gaffs from Plan 9
009: Plan 9 From Outer Space
I did a little googling and came up with some fun links. So far, the best is a site detailing all the mistakes in the film. The man found 73 of them. I think my favorite thus far is "The flying saucers are making noise--IN OUTER SPACE!!" He also points out that it shifts from night to day incredibly often.
Also, IMDb has some decent trivia. Did you know that the film was funded by a Baptist church and the entire cast let themselves be baptized? 'Tis true.

Plan 9 From Outer Space
009: Plan 9 From Outer Space
Woo! The first film to grace the new Cinema Ahh*Some site. This is prolly Ed Wood's most notorious film. It is, without a doubt, horrible and many consider it to be the worst film of all time. But that's what makes it charming. I figured we should watch this film in honor of the release of Ed Wood's only porn film, Necromania. It's being released by Fleshbot Films, a weblog cum movie distributor, apparently.
