I'm thinking about buying this camera:
My favorite features? It's got 3-inch LCD, 26MB of internal memory for slideshows, compact design, zeiss lens and good looks.
Do you have one and like it? Is there another ultra-compact digital camera you'd recommend first?
Update (03/20/06): After a visit to B&H, I think I'm going to wait until the Canon Powershot SD630 arrives next month. Same big screen, probably better photos and a little cheaper. I'll miss that cool slideshow feature, but it seems like a better option.

Do you favor the compact digital camera over the SLR models? If so, why? We're also looking for a digital camera, and we spoke to a family friend who had a lot of good reasons for going with the SLR models. What is your take?

I've owned several Sony products, and I'd think very carefully about buying any more in the future. I'm not saying they're all bad, but I am saying that I've found them to be fragile and, when you need to get them fixed, expensive to repair. In my experience, they generally favor proprietary parts, which is unfortunate. I'd look elsewhere, to a Canon, probably.

i have a sony dsc-p200. right now you can get it for $230 or so. a WAY good deal. the great thing is that it fits in my pocket. how useful is it to have all the SLR features if the caera is too heavy to carry with you everywhere? i think of all the fun shots i'd have missed.

I have the sony DSC-N1, great camera but the LCD cracked on a small fall... Way to delicate, now they want $400 bucks to fix it. If you asked me, I won't purchase another Sony product ever again.
