I've been in the big city for about 5 months now, and I love the benefits. Culture is cool. The only thing that's rough is the people situation. I think I know about 4 people in the city and I've become friendly with one or two people aside from them. Radiohead, meeting people is not easy.
How is that in a city of 8,000,000 I can't find even a few people I would want to hang out with?
So you tell me: how can I meet people?

let's hang. spring break is in a week. my friends are visiting from out of town. come play tourist with us. statue of liberty, empire state building, times square, the producers, fancy dinners. it'll be fun. also, in regards to your last question, once you move off staten island, your social world will change in very good ways. trust me. later dude

dude. My pal Kevin...he moved to minneapolis over a year and a half ago. his only friends are from work. We talk about it all the time, how its impossible to meet people under non booze induced situations. really depressing, but michael jackson is right! You are NOT alone. I am here with you. But i'm not. This is something im nervous about in SF. But I think at this point in life people end up getting one or two really good friends and dont bother with the rest. And i've noticed with people 40+, their best pals are still the ones they met in HS or college, not the people in the area most often. But maybenot. This comment answers nothing. Just agreeing that itsnot easy to meet people.

Well, I am making a step in the right direction as I signed up for an improv class at Upright Citizen's Brigade. I'm hoping I'll meet some people that way. We'll soon find out.
Thanks for the support kids.

I had that problem too when I first moved to NY ten years ago. Being in Staten Island though, I think exacerbates the problem for you.
Spring is just around the corner and during April-October people are out and about.
One thing that you can do is take up a sport. The sporting community in NYC is very social?be it biking, skating, running, kayaking, etc. Pick up a copy of MetroSports, they have the best listings and find a group to hook up with.
If you are less active, you can still meet folks by taking classes.
The funny thing is, the vast majority of folks in NYC don't hang out in bars. They go to movies, hang out in bookstores, take classes or do sports.

Surely that should be "Radiohead are", the plural form and what not.
